Pokemon has announced what the next game for Sword and Shield will be, and this game may be the biggest takeaway of all, pun very intentional. Trainers can only bring two Pokemon to fight with them, and one of the Pokemon must be Magikarp. Also don't carry Zapdos with you, as all Legendary Pokemon are banned.

The event is aptly called the Jump Magikarp competition, and as Serebii highlighted, competition registration is now open. As mentioned above, Jump Magikarp will be a two-player match, and one of the two Pokemon you are allowed to bring into the fight must be a Magikarp. The other can be anything other than a Legendary Pokemon, its level doesn't matter as all Pokemon will revert to level 50 during a match.

You can sign up for the competition now, and if you want to battle Magikarp and his buddies in the Jump event, you'll need to sign up by July 21 at 8 pm EST. That's because the Double Play event will begin on July 22 and run through the weekend, ending on July 24. Each participant will receive 50 BP, but there is no word yet on what the top performing Magikarp will get. You can buy Cheap Arceus Pokemon now.

The top response to Serebii's report was to question what the point of the match was. For starters, Sword and Shield is almost three years old. You can only play so many games before you start repeating the same ideas. Also, as Serebii emphasized via a reply, it's just kind of funny. Bring your Magikarp into battle and try to protect it at all costs. There will always be a carp king on the opposing team, so it will always be a fair fight.

Sword and Shield's continued support just goes to show how important the game is and its continued importance to the Pokemon franchise. Since Sword and Shield came out, Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamonds and Sparkling Pearls, and a few spin-off games have come out. It will be interesting to see if this support will continue into 2022 as Scarlet Violet is scheduled to launch this November.
