This is done so players can test any new features or updates that are added. Here, players can spot bugs, provide feedback, and even praise changes that Blizzard developers might like.

Also, since it's a separate entity from the regular WoW server, the PTR server has an extra set of rules that don't necessarily apply to the live server.

How to Join WoW Classic WotLK PTR
Since PTR servers are their own entities, entering them requires some extra steps. This means that in addition to downloading the required client or game, classic players (such as retail players) must first create an account to join.

Create WoW Classic WotLK PTR Account
Here's how to create a PTR account:

Log in to Blizzard Account Management.
Select Games and Subscriptions.
In the Starter Editions Public Test Regions section, choose to Create PTR Account.
Click the Create Account button.

How to Download and Install WoW Classic WotLK PTR
Here's how to install the PTR client and join:

Open the Blizzard Battle.net app and select World of Warcraft Classic from your game list.
In the selector above the Play button, change your Region / Account to Public Test Realm (Classic).
Click Install (or Update) to install the PTR client. When ready, this will become the play button.
Click Play to log in to PTR and select any available test server.
Create a new test character, or use the Copy character button to copy a character from your live account.
